The Alternative One takes artist submissions through the NextWave Emerging Artist Program, run by our parent network, NextWave Broadcasting. You apply once on the NextWave site, choose The Alternative One as your station, and our programming team reviews your song.
Applying is free. A one-time setup fee applies only if your song is approved. See fees and terms.

We play modern rock and alternative music for listeners who want to discover what comes next. Your song is a strong fit if it sits in or near:
Listen to the artists on our Emerging Alternative Top 20 and our Emerging Artists Spotlight to hear the kind of new music we program. If your sound is closer to country, classic rock, new wave or soft rock, one of our sister stations may be a better match. You choose the station on the NextWave application.

Our programming team listens and decides whether the song fits the station.
Step 4
If approved, you complete setup, including the one-time setup fee.
Step 5
Your song is scheduled for a featured airplay period on The Alternative One.

Fees and terms are set by NextWave Broadcasting and can change. The NextWave submission page and agreement are the official terms.
The NextWave family
The NextWave Emerging Artist Program covers every station in the network. Pick the one that fits your sound:
On the NextWave site. The Alternative One uses NextWave’s submission form, so start your application there and choose The Alternative One.
Applying is free. If our programming team approves your song, NextWave charges a one-time, non-refundable $30 artist setup fee before your featured airplay is scheduled.
No. The fee applies only after approval, and approval is a programming decision. The fee does not buy ongoing rotation or chart placement.
NextWave currently prioritizes working and touring artists, so include recent or upcoming live dates with links.
Yes. Your recording stays yours. You grant NextWave non-exclusive promotional broadcast rights under the submission agreement.
Our monthly charts are chosen separately by our programming team. Airplay through the program does not guarantee a chart position.
